A few sketches

It is no secret that sketching is a habit of artists in general. You don't usually go straight to the finished piece without first creating a sketch, the seed, an inkling of some idea.

I wonder if other artists have a huge amount of sketches, maybe even more than finished pieces. Something that, to me, would make sense. After all, a finished artwork would take longer, whereas the sketch takes you a few minutes or even seconds, but it is something valuable to get an idea out of your mind and transfer it to the paper or canvas, even if a digital one.

I sometimes feel the urge to draw something, I got the bug, but don't feel like spending a few hours finishing a piece. Sometimes I just want to exercise my "drawing muscles", just want to do it. Freely. So I'm glad sketching is an option.

Well, without further ado, here are some recent ones.

Exercising some difference faces. Both in style and shape. I like most of them, but dang it, the short-haired girl on the bottom right corner, her face looks out of proportion. I think my fav here is the goth girl with the choker.

I felt like drawing a girl in some cute urban clothes and that short hair. I like it.

As you can see on the page, I thought it would be funny to draw a "scaredy cat", but looking buff like that. Don't mess with that kitten.

A spy, a femme fatale. I had Bond Girls in mind, because I'm watching all the Bond Movies. There are many more to go, but I'm almost finished with the Connery films. Showed this to a friend, she said "Laurine" could be a nice name, so I went with that. : )

A goth girl. Full, long hair and foreshortening. That's what an illustrator needs.

This is Mr. Friendly. The idea was: a creepy thing. Somebody trying to look friendly, but using some odd body language, leaning with hands hidden behind the back and that wide-ass grin. Not gonna lie, I like this one and I may evolve this sketch. Lastly, when I finished the sketch I realized his face kinda reminded me of that Yoko Taro head. (Yoko Taro is a game developer, famous for games such as Nier).

This is a Stallone-inspired face, because I was watching a Stallone movie (my fav actor), so one thing led to another. Let's sketch!

This is something I want to do more of: "Simplifying shapes", which helps when sketching gestures, action scenes.

Don't have much to say here, just wanted to dry a skinny, glass-wearing man like that. Probably inspired by Heero from Gundam.

A woman, half-naked, grinning and crawling towards the camera. I like to draw some "eerie", "creepy" stuff, so I think that fits the bill.
