A few different painting styles

In the spirit of diversifying and practicing I decided to hit Photoshop and try painting with a few different brushes and styles to see which ones I liked best. Gotta say, I'm happy with the exercise and I think I've got a few favorites that will likely become my go-to.

Animé style

Animé style tends to be cleaner and supposedly quicker to do, but in reality, sometimes I find it tricky to land the shadows at the right spots, but no problem. Practice makes perfect. ; )

Animé style + Soft Round Brush Pressure

I'm particularly fond of this style, which is the union of the animé style, plus some air brushing with the... well, brush. A nice mix in my view and I intend to use it more often to render characters and some other things.

Hard Round Pressure Opacity

This one is a bit more "volumetric". This brush can make for some interesting rendering, especially when I fancy showing the brush strokes.

Hard Round Pressure Opacity & Flow

Soft Round Pressure Opacity

Another style I quite enjoyed. This brush gives off a more realistic look. Additionally, it is more air-brushy  and it wasn't too difficult to render skin with it. This would be the opposite of the Hard Round Pressure Opacity, because I feel like you can more easily hide the brush stroke, if that is the goal.

Soft Round Pressure Opacity & Flow

Quite similar to the previous brush. I'm very fond of the how smooth this one looks and it also can be used to give a "volumetric" realistic look, depending on what you're painting.

Used myself as a reference for this painting exercise. When the artist doesn't have a model, he makes do with what he's got available.
